Kishinjou's Castle - 24/09/23

Hello everyone, been a while since I did much with this. Thought I'd just share what's generally up. Nothing major but don't like keeping my dudes in the dark.

So, first of all, for the first half of this year I've been flicking between different projects, started a bunch and never really went far on many of them. When finishing AOS Part 1, I had the mindset of "I've worked on this for a long time, I'm gonna intersperse smaller projects in between continuing on it" which is what I aimed towards.

Problem is none of them really amounted to anything. The furthest I've gotten was a dark comedy story but I've ultimately shelved it for the time being; my humour has historically been very dry, deadpan and understated, so an overtly goofy comedy story has proven difficult to write. I like the idea itself enough that I plan to revisit it, but maybe when I've got more writing credentials and experience with comedy writing to justify it.

So ultimately, a lot of the year has been spent on fruitless side-endeavours, with on-off progress on AOS Part 2 between all those. But I do have good news; the first draft of AOS Part 2 is nearing completion. It's certainly not nearly ready for sale or had its rough edges shaved off to the same ludicrous extent as Part One, and I will need to go back and add one more chapter just to solve a pacing issue between the first and second act, but the initial finish line is within sight. For the first time in a while I'm quite satisfied with my progress as a writer, a satisfaction I've been counteracting by trying to 100% DMC2. For those who aren't in the know, Devil May Cry 2 is in fact a magical artifact, it compels whoever plays it to reach for Kurt Cobain's microphone and pull their Devil Trigger.

Anyway, with my head now reconstructed, time to talk a few more deets.

This website will see more work, and I'll begin expanding on the videogame master list in the near future. I'm heavily enjoying Touhou Artificial Dream in Arcadia right now, and if it keeps up it'll be the first game to receive prolonged coverage.

Aside from that, I'm also dipping my toes into other endeavours; the whole Unity thing has gotten me interested in trying Godot again, and I have as many ideas for games as I do novels. If anything comes from that, you'll be first to know.

Thanks for reading, my dudes. Whether you share, buy or just read my stuff, it means the world to me. Time is precious.
